The Zohra Orchestra is coming to Sweden

Polar Music Prize is happy to welcome Afghanistan’s first all-female orchestra Zohra to Sweden for three concerts in March 2019.

The Zohra orchestra was founded in 2014 and is part of The Afghanistan National Institute of Music, Laureate of 2018. Zohra is a unique orchestra in Afghanistan, consisting of 25 young female musicians. During their tour in Sweden, local Swedish musicians will join them on stage at each concert.

March 8, Stockholm
Berwaldhallen (in collaboration with Sveriges Radio). Tickets available here.

Högskolan för scen och musik. Tickets will soon be available here.

March 11, Arvika
Musikhögskolan Ingesund. Tickets available here from Feb 1st.

The tour is presented by the Polar Music Prize in collaboration with Spotify, a big thank you as well to our partners in Stockholm: Sveriges Radio, Novare and Scandic Haymarket.

Metallica and Dr Ahmad Sarmast and the Afghanistan National Institute of Music received the 2018 Polar Music Prize from the hands of H.M King Carl XVI Gustaf on June 14, 2018 in Stockholm.

Photos, videos and behind the scenes footage from the ceremony and banquet at Grand Hôtel are available on Flickr, Youtube, Instagram and Facebook. A huge thank you goes to our Laureates, guests, crew and especially the performing artists and musicians who made this evening very special and unique!
